Investment casting, also known as the lost-wax casting process, is one of the oldest and most precise metal forming techniques in the world. Its origins date back over 5,000 years, when early artisans used beeswax and clay molds to cast intricate jewellery, idols, and tools. Today, this ancient technique has evolved into a high-tech process used to manufacture critical components for industries such as automotive, firefighting, valve, pump, industrial machinery, medical, and defence.
A wax replica of the desired part is created using a metal mold. These patterns are highly detailed and serve as the blueprint for the final casting.
Multiple wax patterns are attached to a central wax sprue, forming a tree-like structure. This allows multiple parts to be cast in a single batch.
The entire wax assembly is repeatedly dipped in ceramic slurry and coated with fine sand. After several layers, a strong, heat-resistant shell is formed.
Once the ceramic shell has hardened, the wax is melted and drained, leaving a hollow mold—hence the term "lost-wax" casting.
The ceramic mold is heated to remove residual wax and strengthen the shell in preparation for casting.
The small sample is taken from the molten metal and quickly solidified by means of quenching it in the water and then it is tested in spectrometer to know it’s chemical properties.
Molten metal is poured into the preheated mold, filling every detail of the cavity. The metal then solidifies into the shape of the original wax pattern.
After cooling, the ceramic shell is broken away, and the cast parts are separated, cleaned, and finished through processes like grinding, machining.
We offer various destructive and non-destructive tests like radiography test, magnetic particle test, IGC test, Liquid penetration test, ultra sonic test.
Investment casting offers unmatched precision, excellent surface finishes, and the ability to produce complex geometries that would be difficult or impossible with other manufacturing methods. It supports a wide range of metals and alloys, including stainless steel, carbon steel, bronze alloy, titanium, and cobalt-based alloys.
From ancient craftsmanship to today’s high-performance engineering, investment casting remains a trusted solution for producing high-quality, complex metal parts with consistent accuracy and minimal waste.
